Hosts’ U.S. DMC Members Share Best Practices in Houston

Our U.S.-based DMC members recently concluded their 2018 education meeting in Houston, Texas – “the city with no limits”. Local expert, Experience Houston, hosted fantastic activities for our team to enjoy. During the meeting, representatives from each of our DMCs harnessed their collective power to share knowledge and establish processes intended to not only elevate Hosts’ business operations, but also positively impact clients and industry relations. Attendees were thrilled to learn from:

  • Marketing & Social Media Consultant, Crystal Washington who discussed technology across generations and how digital marketing is shifting in the industry.
  • Barbara Dunn O’Neal of the law offices of Barnes & Thornburg, LLP who discussed legal matters surrounding GDPR and emergency preparedness.
  • Jennifer Swidler, creative guru at August Jackson who worked strategically with all attendees on how to “Paint the Picture” when explaining event experiences.
  • BBJ Linen’s own Tina Williams led members of our team in a creative Linen Lab

With help from our sponsors AFR Furniture Rental and BBJ Linen, the atmosphere was conducive to relaxation and comfort which was a gateway to increased productivity during sessions. In addition to creating a comfortable meeting room atmosphere, Hosts brought in Beri Brown of Define Body & Mind Houston to lead attendees in an energizing early morning wellness session. Our hearts were certainly pumping with the “Body by Broadway” class which combined stretching and cardio movements to favorite show tunes.

The internal meeting was a great success. We left fulfilled by the meeting content and by giving back to our fine host city. Attendees volunteered their time and muscle to help rebuild a home destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. This CSR effort was made possible by Event Pros Take Action (EPTA) and The St. Bernard Project’s (SBP) Hurricane Harvey Relief Project.

Our U.S. teams left Houston with a plethora of great ideas. We can’t wait to put them into action for your next meeting or event.
